New Madrid Food Pantry

The New Madrid Technical Skills Center's Graphic Arts Class designed the graphics and applied the vinyl graphics to the New Madrid Baptist Church's Food Pantry Trailer.  Thank you for allowing our students to learn with your help.

Some of our SkillsUSA Leaders attended "Trunk or Treat" at New Madrid Elementary.  The students enjoyed handing out candy to the students.

Our SkillsUSA leadership team joined other SkillsUSA leaders from around the state to learn about the qualities and characteristics of good leaders.  The students not only learned about leadership, but also learned about the SkillsUSA organization and the different officer positions within this great organization.  A great time and new friends were made during this event.

As part of the after school learning lab "Media Club," students are writing their own stories about school events.  Here, a sixth grader shares his thoughts about P.E. as a new middle schooler.

One thing that I like about sixth grade P.E. is that I get to have P.E. five times a week! I like Dodgeball Fridays. Dodgeball is really fun, and we also run track. I am glad to be in a bigger school this year, and it is very different from Lilbourn Elementary. I'm also glad to see Coach Dontre at the middle school!--Robert Baker

Pink Up for a Cure

The signs of pink were everywhere... T-shirts, shoes, hair and more, to show our support for Breast Cancer Awareness at Matthews Elementary and especially for one of our very own Ms. Vickey!

We love you Ms. Vickey!

The students in PBS recently performed a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT) and Insulin test on Anna (our victim) and two other patients.  It was determined that Anna was a Type 1 Diabetic while one of the other patients was a Type 2 Diabetic.  They are now creating models to demonstrate how insulin signals glucose transport proteins to open, reducing the level of glucose in the blood stream.  They will then demonstrate what happens when a patient has both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.
