Digging for the massive footings of our new 7,800 square foot FEMA tornado/earthquake shelter/multi-use gym has begun behind the CMS 6th grade wing. This building will be used daily by CMS physical education as well as after-school sports such as NMCC/CMS Archery, volleyball etc…

NMCR1 “Safe & Secure Schools Project” (which began in 2019) recently passed a Safety & Security Re-Assessment-Audit! ❤️🦅 The FEMA shelter is the only remaining project, and it is currently under construction behind CMS.

With school security and safety being a top priority for our school district, NMCC hosted an active threat response training course for our local law enforcement officers.
Officers from New Madrid County, New Madrid City, Portageville and NMCC School Resource Officers attended the two-day training event, which was provided at no cost to the agencies by New Madrid Police Department . The training focused on a single officer's response to an active threat.
