NMCR1 School District will return to in-person instruction tomorrow, Thursday February 5th.
Bus routes will operate where travel is safe, however some routes may be adjusted or delayed due to lingering slick spots and road conditions on side roads. Families should expect buses to run slower than normal and allow extra time at stops.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding to ensure safe travel for students and staff.
Out of an abundance of caution, and due to several streets and roads being unsafe for bus and vehicle travel, NMCR1 School District will not be in session on Wednesday, February 4. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Crews are actively working to clear parking lots, walkways, and other areas in preparation for a possible return to school.

NMCR1 honors two groups of staff who represent the heart and soul of education, one group closing a chapter after years of faithful service and the other hitting their stride in extraordinary ways.
NMCR1 retirees include: Randy Crowe (58 years), Kristila Sprouse (23 years) and Michael Wren (23 years).
NMCR1 Teacher of the year nominees include: Paige Kimball, Mattie Bolen, Grace Riley, Rachelle Griffin and Whitney Musgrave

Family is welcome to attend with graduate. Graduate must be invited by the counselor in order to attend.

Senior Decision Day will be Wednesday, May 7th at 8:30 AM.

Graduation will be Friday, May 16 at 6:30 PM. Doors open at 5:30. No bags, please. Metal detectors will be at entrances.

New Madrid County R-1 School District will be in session tomorrow, Thursday, April 10, 2025.
We will run buses as normal as possible, but due to lingering water in some areas, routes may take longer than usual. We appreciate your patience as our drivers navigate safely — they’re carrying our most important cargo: your children.
If your child is missed by the bus, please contact your child’s school. Staff will work with you to ensure any missed work is provided.

School Notice – Wednesday, April 9, 2025
Due to continued road closures and water over the roadway in multiple areas throughout the county, New Madrid County R-1 School District will not be in session on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
Many routes remain impassable or unsafe for bus transportation, and student safety remains our top priority.
We continue to be grateful for the hard work of county crews as they address these conditions. Please use caution if travel is necessary, and we will share updates as available.







NMCR-1 Schools Closed – Tuesday, April 8, 2025
Due to numerous ongoing road closures affecting our busing routes, New Madrid County R-1 School District will be closed on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
As the county continues doing a fantastic job clearing and repairing roads, many key busing routes remain unsafe for travel. For the safety of our students and staff, we will not be in session.

Route H – Route E to County Road 621
Route B – Route 153 to Route 162
Route W – Route E to County Road 621
Route V – Route P to Route 80
Route 61 – Route M to I-55
Route OO – Route BB to County Road 525
Route 62 – Route HH to Route W
Route HH – Route 62 to one half mile west of Route 62
Route 80 – Route AA to Route B
Route P – County Road 719 to Saint Johns Diversion Ditch
Route 162 – County Road 439 to the Mississippi River

This closure will also allow local agencies time to inspect and repair roads that are essential for safe travel.
