Due to a rise in illness among students and staff, all schools in the New Madrid County R-1 School District will be closed on Friday, January 24, 2025. During this time, our custodial and maintenance teams will deep clean and sanitize all school buildings to help reduce the spread of illness and ensure a safe return for everyone.
Additionally, all homecoming activities will be postponed, and a new schedule will be announced soon. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these adjustments.
At this time, we plan to reopen schools on Monday, January 27, 2025. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates if anything changes.

Friday, December 13 is also the last day to bring your change for the Family Resource center fundraiser. The classes that donates the most money will win a pizza party!
The canned food drive for the Jaycees will be ending on Friday, December 13. The class that has the most cans donated will be treated to a pizza party!
Matthews Elementary will be having a Christmas dance for Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students on Friday, December 13 from 5:30-7:00. I have posted the dance reminders. A new copy will be sent home with students today or tomorrow because there was a typo on pick up time. Students must be picked up by 7:00 pm. NO buses will run for Matthews Elementary. NO cell phones are allowed per school policy. If you have any questions, please contact the school.
Matthews Elementary Christmas program is tomorrow, Wednesday, December 11 at 1 pm in the gym. Doors will open at 12:45. We hope to see you there!

Ms. Myers Kindergarten class wrote a book titled "When I Grow Up" and had it published! How exciting!!💛📚💚
Mrs. Kristi’s preschool classes had fun putting chocolate chips on cookies while learning the letter C. They had to recognize the number on the dice and then put that many chocolate chips on the cookie. After the game they got to eat the chocolate chips!!
